The Alternative South Island Diary

13th January - 18th January

We had to set off from Ohope in the Bay of Plenty for the South Island at 5.10am on our journey to Wellington. The reason; because we had to catch the ferry across from Lower Hutt to Picton at 2.00pm. It should take (according to the AA road map) about 7 hours to get to wellington and then 3 1/2 hours on the InterIsland ferry to Picton, and then on to our South Island holiday. That was the plan, now read on for the rest.

• Journey Through the North Island
• First stop Blenhiem
• Next stop Kaikoura
• Venture to Parau
• Then onto Christchurch
• Hanmer Springs
• Lets go Home
