Kiwi NutzThe Altenative South Island DiaryPurau - Diamond HarbourWe moved onto Parau, which is 3 hours or so from Kaikora (40 minutes from Christchurch) again we travelled through well maintained state-highways through the undulating foothills of the Southern Alps. The site was a real pleasure to stay at. It is a quiet and remote bay, set amongst the volcano sculpted hills and mountains. An absolute sun-trap that is naturally sheltered from the wind by three sides. AccommodationThe accommodation was larger this time, compared to the Top10 park, and the camp less busy which made for an even better time. We had a Sleepout-Lounge/kitchen and a separate bedroom with five beds. Also a deck with chairs and views-a-plenty. Still no private bathroom but we were meant to be camping afterall. With the awesome views, a swimming pool, crazy-golf, swings-slides, a beach, a stream and plenty of room to kick a football around we all had loads of fun here. CostsWe stayed for 2 nights and total cost was $130.00, and in our opinion superb value for money. There's a great pub and restuarant up the road too which served excellent sized portions of food to eat-in take-out or to picnic with on their glorious lawns whilst soaking up more of those views. It was really great here sad to have to move on. Must go back! Next: Then onto Christchurch
