There's very little I can say here, other than if you need this information then contact the experts. If in doubt call all of them.. but ensure the issue is sea/ocean related before you call the coast guard, that's about it, over to you.

Emergency Services in NZ

For all 'Emergency's Dial: 111

Rule of Thumb, when you Dial: 111

1. Phone 111

2. Ask for Service: Police, Ambulance, Fire
3. Keep calm. Be clear
4. Tell them where

    When contacting the Police for emergencies: dial 111 (including mobile phones)

    Traffic incidents and information: dial *555 (not emergencies)

    People with impaired hearing: dial 0800 16 16 16 (text phone only)
    or fax 0800 16 16 10

    For non-urgent service phone your local Police station.

    Fire Service

    Dial 111 For Emergencies

    NZ Fire Service General enquiries go to the official website.

    You can make a specific general enquiry to the New Zealand Fire Service that does not fit any other category by; EMAIL queries@fire.org.nz

    Coast Guard

    The NZ Coast Guard is a Nationwide, 24 hour Marine Search and Rescue Service, provided by Volunteers. In the event of a maritime emergency - in the first instance - please phone the emergency services on 111, they will contact the nearest Coastguard unit.
